Govt talks with Ambulance staff fail

Jaipur: The strike by 108 and 104 ambulance workers in Rajasthan entered the third day on Monday with no signs of resolution in sight. State President of Ambulance Employees Union Sujaram Saran, who is leading the strike, has demanded from the government to include ambulance workers in the contract cadre.

Two rounds of talks were held today with NHM Additional Mission Director Priyanka Goswami, but no consensus was reached. As a result, the strike continued to disrupt ambulance services across the state.

The numbers of 108 toll-free ambulances and 104 toll-free ambulances in Rajasthan are 741 and 286 respectively and each ambulance has two nursing staff and two drivers. Patients have suffered due to the strike across the state.

The striking workers said that they have no choice but to hold the strike for which the state government is solely responsible. In view of the strike, alternate arrangements have been made for patients in critical condition.
