Where will Dy CM Sharma contest from?

Although it is certain that Dr. Sharma will contest from Lucknow itself, confusion prevails regarding the particular assembly seat

Lucknow: After the announcement of CM Yogi to contest from Gorakhpur and Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu seat, all eyes are now on the probable seat of Deputy CM Dr. Dinesh Sharma.

Although it is certain that Dr. Sharma will contest from Lucknow itself, confusion prevails regarding the particular assembly seat.

Party strategists are brainstorming about Lucknow-East, North and Cantt seats. Significantly, the Lucknow-East seat is considered a BJP stronghold.

This seat has been with the BJP since the time of the Ram Mandir movement of the nineties. In the year 2012, out of five seats in Lucknow city, BJP could win only from Lucknow-East seat.

Although, sitting MLA and cabinet minister Ashutosh Tandon is considered a strong contender from this seat.

But the name of Dr. Dinesh is also being discussed from this seat, which has become a guarantee of victory for BJP for three decades.

Luck n ow - North seat, which came into existence in the year 2012, was won by Abhishek Mishra, the SP candidate close to Akhilesh Yadav.

But in the last election this seat was captured by BJP, Neeraj Bora had won from here. The possibilities of fielding Dr. Sharma from this BJPdominated seat is also being assessed. At present, the hottest seat in the capi t a l of UP is the Cantt assembly seat.

From here, Rita Bahuguna Joshi defeated Suresh Tiwari of BJP in the year 2012 as a Congress candidate. In the year 2017 as a BJP candidate, Joshi defeated Aparna Yadav of SP by thirty-four thousand votes.

BJP’s Suresh Tiwari became MLA from here in the byelections held after Joshi became an MP.

Now in the changed political scenario, Aparna Yadav has joined the BJP camp, while Prayagraj MP Rita Joshi wants to field her son Mayank Joshi from this seat.

She has even said that if BJP implements the formula of one person per family, then she is ready to resign from the post of MP for her son.

The caste equation of this seat is also favorable for Deputy CM Sharma.

The population of this area consists of 1.5 lakh Brahmin, 25000 Vaish, 60,000 Sindhi and Punjabi community voters, who have traditionally been BJP supporters.

However, the picture is going to be clear soon about which seat the high command decides for Dr. Sharma, the significant Brahmin face of UP BJP.
