What is the Kejriwal model of governance?

New Delhi: The tone of the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party has changed. After AAP’s massive victory in Punjab, party leaders have started saying that the ‘Kejriwal Model of Governance’ has been chosen by the people.

Keep in mind that earlier Delhi model was discussed in AAP’s publicity. Before that, when Narendra Modi came onto the national political scene to contest the general elections, he had shown the Gujarat model to the whole country. But the BJP did not label it as Modi model of governance, rather it ws termed the Gujarat model.

The way the Gujarat model was discussed in public sphere, the same way the Delhi model was being discussed, prior to assembly results. But after the election results, AAP leaders have started calling it the Kejriwal model.

Soon after initial trends, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said it was a victory for “governance on the Kejriwal model”.

After a while, Raghav Chadha, in-charge of Punjab, repeated the same line. So, now the name of the Delhi model has been changed to Kejriwal model, which the Aam Aadmi Party will capitalize on in the assembly elections in two states - Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh - to be held later this year.

Children’s education, women’s earnings, ration to the poor and care of everyone’s health are being told to be the merits of this model.

The way Nitish Kumar had talked about development with justice in Bihar, even though development has not really happened, similarly development with justice is being talked about under the Kejriwal model.
