Occult practitioner ‘kills’ six-month pregnant woman in Banswara

Banswara: Faith in occult killed a six-month pregnant woman in Kushalgarh area of Banswara. Sheetal and Shailesh were married about a year ago. Sheetal was pregnant and kept ill for some time. Due to her seizures, the family thought that she was possessed and took her to an exorcist.

The exorcist assured the family that he would cure her and put iron chains and locks on Sheetal’s stomach and neck. When her condition did not improve, she was sent to her father’s house in Khedia village. She was then taken to MG Hospital in Banswara in a critical condition on Wednesday, where she died during treatment. The examining doctor said that only 7 grams of hemoglobin was left in Sheetal’s body. Had she received regular treatment, her life might have been saved. Sheetal’s father has not filed any complaint after this incident.
