Journo raises Rs 2.5 cr for 7 orphan sisters

Barmer: The social media campaign by First India journalist Ashok Shera has brought a ray of silver lining for seven sisters who were orphaned after the death of their parents in an accident a few days ago. Shera always starts a campaign on Facebook and YouTube to help those in need. It is one of his campaigns that has generated Rs 2.5 crore for the seven orphaned sisters and philanthropists are still pouring help. Dist collector Lok Bandhu also consoled the girls and assured them of all assistance. The couple who went for the engagement of their eldest daughter died in a road accident on November 13 in the Sindhari town of Barmer district when an uncontrolled Bolero vehicle crushed 6 pedestrians walking on the roadside. Khetaram, his wife Kukudevi and Ansidevi wife of Bagdaram were killed. Khetaram’s only 3-year-old son was also killed. Khetaram had 8 children, including seven daughters and a son. None of the 7 daughters is married and their family is very poor. Shera explored news and went to Khetaram’s house and put plight on social media.
