ROAD CRASH INVESTIGATION WORKSHOP IN ODISHA

Muskan Foundation for Road Safety and Center for Transportation Engineering (A Center of Excellence) and Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management & Gramothan Jaipur organised a state-level workshop on Road Safety Management and Road Crash Investigation for the Police and Transport Department of Orissa. Six workshops were organised during two consecutive days in Bhuvaneshwar, Berhampur and Rourkela in April.

The officers of the Police and Transport Department were trained in this first of its kind program. The purpose of the training was to compile authentic data about the accidents so that policy-level interventions can be designed to reduce road accidents.

The objective of the program was also to provide a scientific understanding of the accident investigation process to promote a holistic approach to enhance the skills of the officers of the Police and Transport Department. Neha Khullar, Director of Projects at Foundation, Anirudh Mathur, Coordinator, Transport Engineering Centre and Rajesh Meena, Trainer at Foundation explained the various causes of the accident and the Motor Vehicles Act to the participants.

An important part of the workshop was to survey the most accident-prone roads and prepare a possible road map to reduce the number of accidents.
