The ‘bizzare’ situation of Vishwa Mohan!

Jaipur: The State Government has handed two important responsibilities to 2010 batch IAS, Vishwamohan Sharma, however, he does not have any room to operate his office! The new government called him to Jaipur from the post of Kekri Collector and appointed him as Commissioner Mid Day Meal in January this year. However, the small office of the department does not have any room allocated for the Commissioner! When Vishwamohan informed the government of his problem, the DoP brought out a unique solution to his problem and in response to providing a room in the Secretariat, he was given the additional charge of Special Secretary, Education Department. But 2009 batch IAS, Chitra Gupta has already been posted in this position since May 2023 and there is only one post of Special Secretary in the department. Now neither is Vishwa Mohan able to understand which new responsibility he should assume and which room he should sit in, nor do the Education Department officials know as to which post’s additional charge be handed to Vishwa Mohan!

It seems that Vishwa Mohan’s stars are misaligned as in the past five years, he has undergone nine transfers. He has been appointed as Collector thrice, but he could stay in Jaisalmer for merely thirteen months, for only six months in Ajmer and three months in Kekri and now, he does not have a room to operate his office from!

Govt’s work to be hampered as officials head for election duty!

The Election Commission has shortlisted 43 IAS officers for election duty in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. These officials span from Principal Secretaries of the 1996 batch to 2013 batch officers. These officials have been called for a first briefing at the Secretariat on Monday, March 11. In its notice, the Commission has warned that “unauthorised absence shall be viewed very seriously and may lead to the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.” It is thus, clear that since so many officials will be out on election duty, thus, the government work will also be hampered.
