Shun politics over Eastern Raj Canal Project: Murari Lal to BJP

Jaipur: Minister of State for Agriculture Marketing Murari Lal Meena said that the BJP should not do politics on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) as it is a major issue and concerns people of 13 districts facing drinking water problems. He said that if need be, he would go to New Delhi and raise the issue.

In a special conversation with First India, Meena said that the state government is committed to ERCP and the Modi government at the Centre must keep its promise. He said that CM Ashok Gehlot has taken a big initiative by making budgetary provisions for the project. Meena, while appreciating the initiative of BJP MP Kirori Lal Meena in the matter, said that in eastern Rajasthan, everyone wants ERCP. “The issue is beyond politics and should not be seen through a political lens,” he said. Meena, reacting to the rhetoric of the MLAs who came to Congress from BSP, said that when they came from BSP to Congress, it was unconditional.
