Raj PCC leaves final decision on high command, Gehlot rallies PCC members to get Rahul Gandhi to the podium!

Jaipur: In the first meeting of the Congress delegates selected for voting in the election of the National President of the grand-old party, the demand for making Rahul Gandhi the President arose prominently. In the meeting, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made a proposal to make Rahul Gandhi the party President and got the leaders present there to raise their hands. All the leaders supported Gehlot’s proposal by raising their hands.

Gehlot proposed to make Rahul Gandhi the President after the State Returning Officer left the meeting. Notably, although 400 PCC members were made by State Congress but half of the members didn’t reach for the meeting. Except BD Kalla, none of the former presidents attended the meet. Assembly Speaker Dr CP Joshi, Sachin Pilot, Girija Vyas, Narayan Singh and Dr Chandrabhan didn’t attend the meet. This was the first meeting at after the PCC members election, but more than 200 out of 400 PCC members did not reach. Interestingly, regarding the proposal to make Rahul the party president again, CM Ashok Gehlot asked the members to raise their hands thrice. All PCC members raised their hands thrice and it was after this that CM Gehlot told Ajay Maken, “You should convey the spirit of Rajasthan PCC to the high command. Everyone wants Rahul to be the party president again.” After the meeting, Cong state president Govind Singh Dotasra said, “Congress leaders want Rahul Gandhi to become the president, this is the sentiment of all of us, which we will keep expressing time and again.” The process for the election of the National President of Congress is starting from September 24. The names of many leaders outside Gandhi family are doing the rounds for the post of President, including CM Ashok Gehlot. After the meeting, Cong state in-charge Ajay Maken said that in the first meeting of PCC delegates, the resolution was unanimously passed, in which the right to decide on all the posts was left to the High Command. This is the official proposal. As soon as Maken spoke, State President Dotasra said that we all have a feeling that Rahul Gandhi should become the President.
