Raj High Court gave three CJIs to the country

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court, celebrating its platinum jubilee, boasts a rich history with several remarkable achievements. It has given three Chief Justices to the country. Over the years, the judges at this court have made significant and bold decisions that continue to set examples in the legal field.

Established on August 29, 1949, in Jodhpur, the foundation of the high court was laid by then Raj Pramukh and Maharaja of Jaipur Sawai Man Singh.

Justice KN Wanchoo first reached the Supreme Court from Rajasthan High Court as the Chief Justice of India. His tenure was from April 1967 to February 1968.

After this, Justice JS Verma – March 1997 to January 1998- and Justice RM Lodha – April 2014 to September 2014- were elevated to the post of the CJI. Apart from them, 25 other judges who served in the Rajasthan High Court also reached the Supreme Court.

Throughout its 74- year journey, the Rajasthan HC has made landmark decisions that tackled social issues such as Sati practice, feticide, and workplace sexual harassment.
