NIA conducts raids in Assam related to JeM terrorist outfits, 8 apprehended
Guwahati: Along with other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also conducting raids in Assam in the case related to activities of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit group.
In connection with the case, Assam police apprehended 8 people from Goalpara district and handed over them to the NIA.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that, Assam police apprehended 8 persons and handed over them to the NIA.
"Today the NIA has conducted a nationwide operation against Islamic fundamentalists. The Assam police were also given the responsibility and apprehended eight people and handed over them to the NIA," Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
On the other hand, Nabaneet Mahanta, Superintendent of Police of Goalpara district told ANI that, the operation is still continuing in 2-3 locations of Goalpara district.
"The operation is underway at Krishnai, Agia areas in Goalpara district. Few people have been picked up for interrogation," Nabaneet Mahanta said.
