Govt organises health camps for miners

Jaipur: Health camps are being organised on priority in mineral areas across the State, a senior official said. “Through camps, arrangements are being made for awareness among the workers, motivating them towards the use of mining safety resources, distribution of essential kits like masks etc.,” Additional Chief Secretary Mines Dr Subodh Agarwal said. He said that financial assistance and treatment on the appearance of symptoms of diseases like silicosis is also being provided. Agarwal said that the state government is serious about the health of mining workers. He had instructed the field officers to ensure compliance of mine safety and health standards in the state in the departmental review meeting held on November 18. Around 600 health check-up camps have been organised by the department from April till now and around 20,000 laborers have been benefitted.
