August Kranti Maidan to host rally tomorrow

Mumbai: Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan (aka Gowalia Tank ground) come Tuesday will host a rally to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the ‘Bharat Chodo’ (Quit India) agitation launched against the British government during India’s freedom struggle as part of the planned programmes to mark the diamond jubilee celebration of the nation’s freedom.A massive rally is planned in Mumbai alongside the other initiative of ‘Tiranga Rally’ being carried out across the nation with the CM Eknath Shinde and DCM Devendra Fadnavis led Maharashtra government launching the public campaign of Ghar Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Tiranga in the run up to August 15.

A person associated with the development said, “The BJP has launched a major political initiative aimed at redefining its concept of Hindutva getting subsumed by and becoming synonymous with Indian nationalism. We are enthused by the nationwide response that the Tiranga rallies have generated. The statements by Leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav who termed the initiative as ‘Tiranga nahin Danga’ while his party leaders like Azam Khan refusing to unfurl the Indian tricolour have only further bolstered our campaign across the nation.” The quit Indian movement was the turning point in India’s freedom struggle.
