Stop flow of contaminated water into Jojari river: NGT to State govt

Jodhpur: The NGT has asked the state govt to prepare an action plan and stop the flow of contaminated water into the Jojari river of Jodhpur with immediate effect. Contaminated water from cities and industrial units flows into the river. The NGT had issued an order regarding this on March 19 pointing out that contaminated water was flowing directly into the Jojari river. The WRD has swung into action after NGT’s order.

ACS Water Resources Abhay Kumar held a meeting of the Pollution Control Board and gave instructions for formation of a sub-committee under the chairmanship of District Collector Jodhpur.

The sub-committee will study obstruction in the flow of Jojari river and study construction of Jodhpur to Balotra highway and find out whether the construction was creating any obstruction. The next meeting will be held after the sub-committee’s report is received.
