Royal train all decked up for festivities

Jaipur: he royal train, Palace on Wheels, is all decked up like a bride for its Christmas tour. The royal train departed from Safdarjung Station in Delhi for this special tour on Wednesday night. A total of 51 tourists from six countries will celebrate Christmas and the New Year aboard this moving palace. The tour includes 23 tourists from India, 15 from the United States, 6 from Sweden, 3 from Canada and 2 each from Singapore and Spain. Under the supervision of the Tourism Corporation and managed by O&M operators, Palace on Wheels has been specially decorated for the Christmas celebration.

A large banner reading “Merry Christmas” has been placed on the royal train. Inside the Sheesh Mahal and Swarn Mahal restaurants, extensive arrangements have been made for the Christmas celebrations, with a special Turkish dish being prepared. Bhagat Singh Lohagarh, the O&M Director of the royal train, said that a series of special programmes has been planned to make this tour memorable. A Christmas cake will be cut, and grand celebrations will be held. During the event, the royal train staff will dress up as Santa Claus and distribute gifts. On Thursday morning, when the royal train reaches Jaipur, the tourists will be warmly welcomed with a grand reception
