Dignitaries honour Milap Chand Dandiya

Jaipur: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday lauded veteran journalist Milap Chand Dandiya for empowering journalists in Rajasthan to speak truth boldly. Speaking as the chief guest at the felicitation ceremony held at the Rajasthan International Center, Kataria remarked that Dandiya has given Rajasthan’s journalists the courage to speak the truth. “He published stories that were vital for public welfare,” Kataria said. The programme was organised to mark 93-year-old Dandiya’s 75 years in journalism.

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, who presided over the ceremony, called Milap Chand Dandiya a “special treasure” of Rajasthan. “This felicitation is not just for a person but for an ideology. He is a living legacy of Raj’s journalistic tradition. This event is a tribute to entire field of journalism,” he said.

Former Assembly Speaker CP Joshi spoke about Dandiya’s dedication to truth and discipline in journalism. “Milap Chand Dandiya’s entire journalistic life has been shaped by strict discipline and commitment to truth. For new journalists, his life is akin to a university curriculum,” Joshi stated.

Programme coordinator and Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma spoke about Dandiya’s influential role in Rajasthan’s journalistic history.

During the ceremony, the dignitaries unveiled a special book titled “Amritotsav*, celebrating Dandiya’s 75 years of contribution to journalism. Bajrang Singh Shekhawat presented a handwritten honor certificate to Dandiya. Sanjeev Srivastava, the former BBC India head, read out congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
