Rats gnaw feet of mentally-ill patients in Jodhpur’s MDM hosp, panel formed

Jodhpur: After reports of rat nibbling on patients in the Psychiatry department of Mathura Das Mathur government hospital, the hospital administration has set up a committee to look into the matter. The division’s largest hospital has become a home to rats despite monthly expenditure of Rs 27000 per month for pest control.

Zila Parishad CEO Abhishek Surana reached the hospital and took information about the matter from the hospital superintendent Dr. Vikas Rajpurohit and also inspected the psychiatry department and the ward there.

Talking to media after the inspection, Surana said that whoever has been negligent in such cases, action will be taken against them as per rules. MDM Hospital Superintendent Vikas Rajpurohit said that in view of seriousness of matter, a notice has been issued to ward in-charge & caretaker is removed.
