Martyr’s last rites held with State honours

Banswara: Army jawan Shailesh Panchal, who was martyred during duty in Dehradun, was cremated with full state honours in Barmer on Sunday. Naib Subedar Shailesh Panchal died of cardiac arrest during duty in the Indian army depot located in Dehradun. His body was brought to Udaipur on Saturday and left for Barmer on Sunday morning.

Sources informed that with the arrival of his body, a pall of gloom descended in the area and a procession was taken out from Maharana Pratap Circle to his residence in Khandu Colony. After keeping the deceased at his residence for some time, the body was taken to the burial ground following the protocol. An emotional and tearful adieu was given to the army soldier by the villagers and officials of the district administration. A gun salute was given to the departed soul and the funeral pyre was lit by his family members.
