Jhalawar stir: Police arrests 80 people, seizes six vehicles

Jhalawar: Congress workers & people of Gurjar community pelted stones at police in Jhalawar district after a demonstration held to demand withdrawal of a police case against a local Congress leader and PCC member Suresh Gurjar. 80 people were arrested and six vehicles were seized by the police.

A case against Gurjar was registered on Wednesday after he allegedly misbehaved with the SHO of Khanpur police station. The Congress workers assembled at Khanpur and held a demonstration. They went unruly and pelted stones at the police. The police had to lathicharge and fire tear gas shells to control the mob. Additional policemen were deployed in the area to control the situation. Apart from Suresh Gurjar, Congress leader Pramod Sharma, former District President Raghuraj Singh Hada and people of Gurjar community were also present.

The controversy started when cops didn’t allow tents to be set up in front of police station. SP Monika Sen is monitoring the situation.
