Intruders use forest area on border to infiltrate: BSF

Sri Ganganagar: At Sherpura post near Anupgarh in Sri Ganganagar, a youth trying to infiltrate into the Indian side taking advantage of the thick forest cover on the India-Pakistan international border, on Friday night was first stopped by the security forces but when he did not stop, he was gunned down by the BSF jawans.

BSF DIG Amit Kumar Tyagi said that Pakistan tries to take advantage of the dense forest. The youth killed in this connection had also tried to enter India from the forest.

The infiltrator had come into the Indian side of the border about 250 metres from the zero line. When he did not stop, the soldiers started firing. Eight rounds were fired and the man was killed. A contingent of BSF jawans was patrolling there.

On receiving information about the encounter, higher officials of the BSF also reached the spot. The DIG said that no material has been found from the deceased’s possession. The deceased was around 22 years old.
