VENI VIDI VICI!

In our personal lives, and on a global scale, people face challenges that test their emotional mettle, it could be an injury, illness, grief or even a setback in a new venture with an unknown future.

“It’s easier said than done that - When Life gives you a lemon get ready to make a Lemonade out of it.

All it needs is an indomitable spirit, discipline, determination, patience and home support to conquer any challenge of life”, said Jainendra Pant, an Army Veteran.

When asked about his journey, he said “In Commando training areas there is a familiar slogan written “Veni, Vidi, Vici” a Latin phrase popularly attributed to Julius Caesar, meaning: “I came, I saw, I conquered” I have been a Marathon Runner for over 2 decades, in 2016 I suffered a Brain Stroke, resulted in paralysing the entire left side of the body, losing mobility and sensation of my left Arm and Leg.

Despite all this happening the Spirit stayed high enough to look forward to tomorrow with a smile, reminding me of my training which said “When the going gets tough, The tough gets going”.

Being an Army Captain and Marathon runner initially it was difficult for me to accept staying bedridden. During the first 2 years, I was still accepting the reality but for the past 2 years, I have been running marathons under specially Abled people, 3 km distance.

I say Everyone on that Start Line is a winner because they chose to defy all odds and participate. In August 2020, I re-started my journey by participating in a few Virtual events.

My first attempt was a 42 km Virtual Marathon in 09 days and then joined Sunfeast India Run-as-one, and did 124 km in 27 days. I use social media platforms to share my accomplishments and it helps others to get motivated.
