JAIPURITES WAKE UP TO ‘JAL-PUR’

Jaipur: Very heavy rainfall occurred at some places in eastern Rajasthan during the 24-hour period till Saturday morning. Jaipur recorded a maximum of 16 cm rainfall, followed by Lalsot in Dausa which received 12 cm rainfall. Bhim, Atru, Neem ka Thana recorded 9, 8 and 7 cm rainfall, respectively.

Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas visited several rains-hit areas and gave necessary directions to officials. SDRF teams were alert and engaged in rescue and relief works in different areas. “Due to new circulation system, there is a strong possibility of heavy rainfall in Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions,” weather department said.

LABOURER DIES AFTER HEAP OF MUD CAVES IN
A labourer died after getting buried in a pit in Jaipur while he was digging it. Fellow labourers took out his body. The father of the deceased has registered a case of death due to negligence against the contractor. Police said that Atar Singh (25), a resident of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, worked as a labourer in Jaipur. On July 26, he was working in Hanuman Nagar. Singh was digging when soil above collapsed and he got buried. After about 15 minutes, he was pulled out. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

4 TRAINS CANCELLED, TRACKS WATERLOGGED
Heavy rains in Jaipur led to cancellation of four trains. Waterlogging was seen at Jaipur railway station. Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief PRO of NWR said that train number 19702 has been partially cancelled. Besides, train number 04801 between SikarJaipur has been partially cancelled. Trains that were cancelled on Saturday were train number 4861, 09730, 09635, and 09636. The partially cancelled are train number 09605/09606 and 12991/12992. Trains 09603 and 09729 were cancelled on Saturday.

7 INJURED AS HOUSE COLLAPSES IN JAIPUR; NEARLY 30 HOUSES COLLAPSE IN BIKANER
Seven members of a family got injured after their house collapsed in Bhatta Basti in Jaipur following heavy rains. After getting information, Civil Defence in-charge Amit Sharma and his team arrived. Meanwhile, nearly 30 houses collapsed in various areas of Bikaner due to incessant rains. In Bajju, the boundary wall of a water body in Gandhi village was also broken. No casualties were reported.

19-YR-OLD BOY WASHED AWAY IN RAIN WATER, SISTER DIES BY SUICIDE
In Bikaner, 19-yearold boy, identified as Sandeep Khileri got washed away when he went to see the rain water. After about half an hour’s struggle, he was taken out. By then he had died. When his sister Rekha Khileri (22) got news of her brother’s death, she herself jumped into a ditch and died. On Saturday afternoon, Sandeep from Bajju had gone to see Barsati river with his friends. Onlookers at the accident site told that from where Sandeep was standing, a part of soil washed away taking him along.

14-YEAR-OLD BOY DROWNS WHILE CROSSING AN OVERFLOWING RIVER IN BHILWARA
A 14-year-old boy died due to drowning in Kothari river of Delas village in Bhilwara. The water was about two feet high. Vishnu died due to drowning in water after he slipped into the river while crossing the culvert. Villagers informed Kareda police about the accident. The deceased was a resident of Delas village. Several incidents of mishap are being reported following heavy rain in region.
