Govt promotes 3 IPS officers to DG Rank

Jaipur: IPS Saurabh Srivastava has finally got the gift of promotion from ADG to DG rank before retirement. Along with him, the Additional Secretary in the CBI at the Centre, DC Jain, has also been given proforma promotion to the rank of DG. Along with this A. Ponnuchami, who was also ADG, has also been promoted to DG. Notably, all these three are IPS officers of the 1991 batch.

IPS Saurabh Srivastava, posted at Police Headquarters, is retiring on April 30. On Thursday, before retirement, he has been given a gift by the government by promoting him from ADG to DG.

DC Jain, the seniormost IPS of the 1991 batch, is currently Additional Secretary in the CBI at Centre. He has been given proforma promotion. He will retire in October 2023.

Right now ADG Police Housing A. Ponnuchamy is retiring in May. He is second in seniority in 1991 batch.
On the other hand, Saurabh Srivastava has got utmost benefit of this promotion, who will retire on April 30. He is third in seniority in the 1991 batch.

Since all three IPS promoted on Thursday will retire in same year, thus, all the three officers will be retiring from the post of DG.
