STATE SEES DIP IN VOTER TURNOUT IN 2024 LS POLLS

Jaipur: A total of 62.10 percent voter turnout was recorded in two phases of the Lok Sabha polls on all the 25 seats in Rajasthan, which is about 4.24 per cent less than the voter turnout of 2019-LS elections.

In the 2014 general elections, the voter turnout was 63.02 per cent.

In the first phase of polling for 12 Lok Sabha seats in the state held on April 19, 58.28 per cent turnout was registered while 65.52 per cent turnout was recorded in the second phase of polling for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state on Friday.

The voting percentage has increased in Kota, Banswara and Barmer Lok Sabha constituencies as compared to the 2019 polls. The highest voting percentage of 76.5 was in Barmer-Jaisalmer and the lowest of 50.04 per cent was recorded in Karauli-Dholpur lok sabha seats.

In assembly constituencies, highest voting in Baytu and Ghatol at 82.15 percent and the lowest turnout was 40.21 percent in Nokha. Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that there are 8 Lok Sabha constituencies where women have voted more than men. This includes 5 Lok Sabha constituencies of the second phase and 3 Lok Sabha constituencies of the first phase.

A total of 5,35,08,010 voters were registered across the state under the Lok Sabha general elections and a total of 266 candidates were in the fray for all the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
