Govt lifts ban on transfers for 10 days

Jaipur: The State government has lifted ban on transfers for 10 days. Now, transfers of employees can be made as per their need in all departments, corporations and boards between 10th to 20th February. According to the order issued by the Administrative Reforms Department, transfer-posting was banned in all the departments of the state from January 15 last year.

However, there will be no transfers in the Education Department due to the exams, said Education Minister Madan Dilawar. For them, a separate transfer policy will be made by the Department. After making major changes in bureaucracy at the highest level, the Bhajan Lal govt is now striving hard to remove old govt’s imprint from govt offices by removing ban on transfers. Even after change of govt, most of the key seats in depts were occupied by officers & staff close to Cong leaders.

The relaxation given for transfers in depts, corporations, and boards is expected to provide relief to those officers and employees, who were feeling oppressed by previous govt. It is believed that the govt’s intent behind removing ban on transfers is that through changes in govt system, the masses are being made aware of change of govt. Generally, government work comes to a standstill during transfers. Understanding this, the government has opened transfers only for a short period from Feb 10-20. Besides, the govt also wanted to settle work of transfers before the ‘MCC’ for LS polls is executed. Following PM Modi’s advice, the Bhajan Lal govt had kept away the ‘desire’ system in transfers of IAS, IPS, and IFS cadres. Now, it remains to be seen, whether ‘desires’ of MLAs or leaders get preference among departmental-level officers and staff or not.
