‘Complainant knew about accused’s marital status’

Jaipur: Giving conditional anticipatory bail to Rohit Joshi, son of cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi, in the rape case, Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court on Thursday observed in the order that the victim is an educated girl and it is clear from the documents that she knew from the beginning that the accused was married.

Apart from this, she himself had posted videos and photos of the accused and herself on his social media accounts. Further, it is also contradictory that the accused must have harassed the victim, as he had filed for divorce with the consent of both of them to divorce his wife and wanted to marry the victim.

In the bail application, the court was told that the victim was aware of the marriage of the accused and had herself sent a proposal of friendship to the applicant on social media. Apart from this, he had made a relationship with the applicant of his own free will. She dreamed of becoming the wife of the applicant and she started demanding money along with pressurizing the applicant to divorce his wife. In such a situation, he should be given the benefit of anticipatory bail.
