YOUTH DIES AT REHAB CENTRE, FAMILY CRIES MURDER

Agra: Furious people reached at a drug de-addiction center in Itmad-ud-Daulah police station area here on Friday after a young man died at the center allegedly due to excessive electrical shocks and ‘torture’ at the hands of the staff.

When no one opened the center’s gate, the angry people started throwing stones and even climbed the gate and went inside. The relatives of the deceased alleged that Mukesh was killed at the de-addiction center. They said there are marks of beating and severe electric shocks administered to him. They also alleged that to hide the truth, the staff at the center sent Mukesh’s body to a hospital to show that he was admitted there. The relatives demanded a high-level inquiry to be conducted into this death case. According to the information, the youth named Mukesh was admitted to the drug de-addiction center in Kalindi Vihar on Thursday and died the same day. His relatives showed the police the marks of torture on his body & alleged that the youth was physically tortured. The family said that even after showing evidence, the police have not taken any action so far. There was a protest against police due to inaction. The police reached the spot and pacified the protestors, who demanded that the police should check the CCTV footage of the hospital.
