Why do Shahid Kapoor fans have to wait another week for the Jersey release? Speculations suggest a legal case be the reason

Mumbai (Maharashtra): After delivering a blockbuster like ‘Kabir Singh’, fans have been longing to watch Shahid Kapoor on screen again. With the announcement of his new film ‘Jersey’, the actor quenched the thirst of his fans to see him on the big screen. But the movie is continuously facing hurdles on its bumpy road to release, disappointing Shahid admirers. The film which was slated to premiere on April 14, was further pushed to be released a week later on April 22.

But what is grabbing the attention of everyone is not just the further delayed release but the assumptions behind the delay. It was first speculated that the makers have pushed the date due to the simultaneous release of KGF 2. Many wondered whether the Jersey makers were scared that the south giant film would overshadow Jersey’s performance at the box office.

However, new speculations surfaced when Bollywood film director Rajnish Jaiswal accused the Jersey makers of plagiarism. The director claimed that his story script has been used to make the Shahid Kapoor starrer without his permission and knowledge. A formal complaint was filed by the former with the hearing happening on April 12 at the Mumbai High Court.

Questions have been raised on whether the makers postponed the release of the film due to the ongoing case. The makers yet have to give an official statement regarding the extended date and the plagiarism case against the film. The film was first postponed in the month of December last year due to the COVID19 infused lockdown that forced theatres to close down.
