Now CBI to probe JJM scam; BJP attacks Cong

Jaipur: CBI will now investigate the scam of around Rs 900 crore in Jal Jeevan Mission in Rajasthan. CBI has registered an FIR in this case after the recommendation of the state and central government and a complaint. Notably, ACB and ED are already investigating this matter, but now with the entry of CBI, it seems that this time big fishes of the scam will get trapped.

CBI has registered an FIR against Water Supply Department’s XEN Vishal Saxena, Shrishyam Tubewell Company Proprietor Padamchand Jain and Shriganpati Tubewell Company Shahpura Proprietor Mahesh Mittal.

Besides, CBI has also considered unknown government and nongovernment people to be involved in the FIR. CBI Sub Inspector Yogesh Kumar conducted a preliminary investigation on the basis of a complaint and lodged an FIR with the CBI on February 1, 2024.

In a statement, Union Jal shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that now the sins of the previous government will be exposed. Those who keep the people of the state thirsty will get severe punishment. No matter how big a corrupt person is, he will not be spared under any circumstances. The central government gave the maximum amount of Rs 27 thousand crore to Rajasthan under this scheme, but the previous Ashok Gehlot government deliberately kept the scheme in limbo.

Water Supply Minister Kanhaiyalal Choudhary issued a statement after the entry of CBI and said, “Modi ji wanted to provide relief to Rajasthan by providing tap water to every house, but the previous Congress government had not spared even a scheme like JJM in its demonic greed!”

Meanwhile, minister Kirorilal Meena also posted on social media in this regard saying, “Prime Minister Shri @ narendramodi ji took the initiative to provide tap water to every house in Jal Jeevan Mission, but instead of helping in this, the previous Congress government in Rajasthan committed a scam of Rs 900 crore.
