Modi, Shah to start flurry of projects in poll-bound UP

Lucknow: The heat is on. With the high-stakes Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022 round the corner, all roads for top BJP leaders and Union ministers will lead to UP in the coming months.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted the campaign by inaugurating and dedicating development works worth Rs 1,583 crore in his ‘Karm-Bhoomi’ Varanasi last week, the project outreach in poll-bound UP is expected to intensify with some big-ticket key infrastructure launches and new announcements.

The itinerary, according to sources, was planned last month when Chief Minister Yogi met PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

“A senior ACS rank IAS officer close to CM Yogi had made a presentation of the development works undertaken and some of the major projects nearing completion to the PM,” said an official requesting anonymity.

Consequently, as part of this pre-decided schedule the PM will inaugurate nine new medical colleges simultaneously at a ceremony to be held in Siddharth Nagar on July 30,  

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of Rs 150 crore Vindhyachal Corridor Project in the presence of CM Yogi in Mirzapur on August 1 with twhe CM himself by wwhis side. 

“We have received a tentative programme. the Union Home Minister will be in Vindhyachal on August 1, to lay the foundation stone of the ambitious Vindhyachal Corridor Project.

The final design of the proposed corridor is being finalised,” Commissioner Mirzapur Yogeshwar Ram Mishra said. 

The mother of all big-ticket projects launch/announcement ceremony has been planned for the 75th Independence Day by PM Modi on August 15.
