Man behind 250 kg gold smuggling syndicate held

Jaipur: In a significant breakthrough, officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have nabbed the alleged mastermind orchestrating a deceptive scheme that ensnared unemployed youth into gold smuggling activities. Jitendra Soni, known as Jitu Soni, hailing from Ramlila Maidan, Sikar, was apprehended on Saturday evening. Soni, alongside his cohorts, purportedly enticed job seekers from Sikar, Churu, and Nagaur districts with promises of lucrative overseas employment in Gulf countries. Upon arrival, they were coerced into smuggling gold to cover incurred expenses. The illicit operation, spanning multiple districts, saw smuggled gold transported via various means. Over past three years, Soni smuggled approximately 250 kg of gold.
