New Delhi: Droupadi Murmu takes oath as President of India, the highest constitutional post of the country, followed by a 21-gun salute. CJI NV Ramana administered the oath of office of President to her on Monday. President Droupadi Murmu addressing the nation said, ‘Johar! Namaskar! I express my heartfelt gratitude to all MPs & all MLAs for being elected to the highest constitutional post of India. Your vote is an expression of the faith of crores of citizens of country,’ Murmu said. She also said that the country needs to speed up the efforts to meet the expectations that our freedom fighters had with the citizens of independent India.
