In a repetitive narrative, Bombay HC grants stay on Salman Khan’s criminal intimidation summons

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The saga of Salman Khan getting away with criminal charges yet goes on as the stay on his summons for the 2019 criminal intimidation case was extended again till June 13. Journalist Ashok Pandey had filed a case against Salman Khan and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh in 2019 for allegedly assaulting and threatening him. A summons was issued by a magistrate court following the complaint but a stay was put on it till May 5 by the Mumbai High Court. Now the stay has again been extended till June 13.

The complainant now has filed an affidavit opposing the court’s decision. Reports in India Today stated that the affidavit was in opposition to the ruling of the Bombay High Court that granted Salman Khan relief by extending the stay of summons. Ashok Pandey wrote in it that the Mumbai magistrate court had followed the due process of law and seeing the gravity of the evidence and seriousness of the case, the summons was issued.

Journalist Ashok Pandey had first lodged a complaint against Salman Khan and his bodyguard, Nawaz Shaikh after the duo had allegedly assaulted him. Pandey was filming Salman riding a bicycle when the actor snatched away his phone, and his bodyguard verbally and physically abused him. The journalist claimed that Salman even threatened him.

However, a petition filed by the Race 3 actor claimed that he had not said anything to the journalist during the entire altercation.
