HAS MODI HINTED AT ENDING ‘SHORTCUT POLITICS’?

New Delhi: There is a lot of discussion about shortcut politics these days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned this in the BJP’s national executive and then in Deoghar, Jharkhand. He said that some people engage in shortcut politics, due to which there is a danger of short circuit and the country may be ruined. His clear gesture was towards ‘lucrative policies’ announced by parties to entice voters. He also said that today people doing politics by making lucrative announcements are not aware of its danger. Actually this has a deep meaning. Prime Minister Modi is trying to make people understand that he is doing long term politics, due to which people may face some difficulties now but tomorrow will be good for them and golden for the country as India will become Vishwa Guru. It means diverting people’s attention from their problems.

But the opposition leaders linked the word of their shortcut politics to politics. When the Prime Minister criticized the shortcut politics in Deoghar, the JMM and Congress leaders were happy. A leader took this to mean that now the BJP will not form the government in the state by shortcut. Keep in mind that the BJP had lost the last election, but since its defeat, there is talk that it will form its government by toppling the JMM-Congress government. Similarly, a leader from Bihar took a jibe at the Prime Minister’s speech and said that the BJP was defeated in the 2015 elections but it formed the government in the middle by joining JD(U) with itself in a shortcut way. Now in Maharashtra and before that in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Manipur etc. BJP formed the government through shortcut politics.
