Deliberate delay in appointing party state chiefs in UP

Lucknow: In UP, when all the political parties are gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, then almost all the main parties are apparently grappling with the problem of indecision regarding their respective state president. In this context, BJP is passing through the phase of the most intense churning.

Keeping in view the Mission-2024, BJP strategists are assessing to balance the caste-regional equations. That is why the final decision is getting delayed. Whereas, it is believed that the opposition parties are waiting for the announcement of the name of the new state president of BJP; only after that all these parties would like to open their cards.

Although the tenure of BJP’s present state president Swatantradev Singh is till 2023, he has become a cabinet minister in the Yogi 2.0 government. As BJP strictly adheres to the principle of ‘one man one post’, the new face is sure to get the command of the state organisation in his place. In order to successfully deal with the upcoming election challenges, the focus is especially on caste equations. Party strategists are engaged in assessing the aspects of profit and loss associated with the selection of Brahmin-Dalit or OBC face. On the other hand, UP Cong state president Ajay Kumar Lallu had resigned after the party’s poor performance in the assembly elections. Discussions are going on about the names of many veterans in the Cong for Lallu’s vacant seat. But even after almost two months no decision has been taken. After this the state president Dr. Masood Ahmed left the party. Since then no posting has been done on his vacant post. There has been a round of discussions in SP also to replace Naresh Uttam Patel but no final decision could be taken.

There have been speculations about replacing the state president Bhimrajbhar in BSP. In AAP too, the decision to select the president is pending.
