AFTER 38 TRANSFERS, HOPES RUN HIGH FOR SEVERAL IAS OFFICERS

Lucknow: Plenty of IAS officers from batch 2014 to 2018 have pinned their hope on being named in the 3rd transfer list following the transfer of 38 IAS officers in 2 separate transfer sprees. The state government recently announced a transfer list of 21 officers including District Magistrates while another transfer list was later released which contained the name of 17 IAS officers.

Since plenty of IAS officers have been holding onto the same post for a long time, IAS officers who were promoted to Special Secretary have pinned their hopes on the third list of IAS officers who will be transferred. But the same cannot be said about IAS officers of the state’s cadre as many IAS officers of the state cadre’s 2014 batch are yet to be named in any of the previously mentioned lists.

These officers have been waiting for a long to become District Magistrates like the names of Isha Duhan, Vice-Chairman of Varanasi Development Authority, and Akshay Tripathi, Lucknow Development Authority. There is no particular pick and choose policy and this can be ascertained by the fact that Jhansi’s Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar Rai and Prayagraj’s Commissioner Ravi Ranjan have been successful in becoming DM Etawah and DM of Firozabad respectively. At present, more eyes are on who among the remaining IAS officers of the 2014 batch will be named in the list as the state government will have to at some point name the state cadre’s IAS officers as District Magistrates. There are also some IAS officers of the 2019 and 2020 batch in the state who are eyeing posts of CDO and hoping an opportunity pops up for them as well.
