"AIIMS Darbhanga will provide better healthcare facilities to people of state," says Bihar CM Nitish Kumar
Darbhanga: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said that AIIMS Darbhanga will provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the state after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of AIIMS, Darbhanga worth over Rs 1260 crore.
Marking today as an "important day" for Bihar, CM Nitish Kumar said that it was decided in 2015 only that a new AIIMS would be constructed in the state.
The Chief Minister recalled his conversations with then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Health Minister JP Nadda, saying how he told them about the formation of a second AIIMS in the state.
Addressing a public rally in Darbhanga, CM Nitish Kumar said, "Today is an important day as PM Modi laid the foundation stone of Darbhanga AIIMS. AIIMS in Darbhanga will provide better medical facilities to the people of the state. In 2003, the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it was decided to open the first AIIMS of Bihar in Patna. After that, a lot of people go to AIIMS for the better healthcare facilities."
"Later, in 2015, it was decided that another AIIMS will also open in Bihar. At that time, I met then-Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and told him that there should be another AIIMS in Bihar. I said that the way Patna had the first medical college and Darbhanga had the second, similarly, the second AIIMS of the state should be opened in Darbhanga. In 2019, then Health Minister JP Nadda came to Bihar, I reiterated the same thing... AIIMS in Darbhanga will provide better healthcare facilities to several people in the state," he added.
AIIMS Darbhanga will have a super-speciality hospital/AYUSH block, Medical College, Nursing College, night shelter and residential facilities among others and it will provide tertiary health care facilities to the people of Bihar and nearby regions.
0Apart from AIIMS Darbhanga, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth Rs 12,100 crore in the state.
