He also holds an FRCP in cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ireland, and has been a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association.

Dr. Rajan has made a significant contribution to the field of cardiology through the development of Rajan's Heart Failure (R-hf) Risk Score. This innovative tool plays a crucial role in assessing heart failure risks in patients. The R-hf Risk Score is expected to have a notable impact on the field of cardiology due to its groundbreaking nature and has received recognition for its potential to advance patient care. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rajan actively contributes to the education and training of young cardiologists. He has served as a faculty member for numerous national and international conferences and has conducted various workshops and training programs in cardiology. Dr. Rajan's dedication to academia led to his appointment as the supervisor of the undergraduate medical research program (SSS) at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 2017. He also holds the position of supervisor for the undergraduate medical clinical placement program (PY2CP) at the University of Reading, United Kingdom. In 2019, he was appointed as a visiting lecturer at the Medical Institute of RUDN University in recognition of his expertise.

In 2018, he was chosen as one of the seven committee members to participate in a high-powered meeting organized by the NPPA. The purpose of this meeting was to reevaluate the pricing of cardiac stents, which are crucial medical devices used in cardiology procedures. Representing the Indian Association of Clinical Cardiologists, Dr. Rajan actively engaged in discussions that led to a significant decision to limit the prices of cardiac stents. This landmark decision not only ensured more affordable access to life-saving treatments for patients but also prompted the NPPA to propose separate pricing for catheters, balloons, and guide wires in hospital bills.
