Police tells SC it will lodge FIR against WFI chief
New Delhi: Hours after Delhi Police told the Supreme Court that it has decided to register an FIR against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations, protesting grapplers Friday remained defiant and said they would continue their stir until the WFI chief was sent to jail.
The court asked cops to carry out a threat assessment and provide security to minor wrestler. The matter will be heard again on May 5. “If FIR is not registered, the remedy is 156(3). When we saw there is cognizable offence, we said let FIR be registered. We feel something else is playing out here and I cannot say more because this is a sensitive matter,” Mehta, appearing for Delhi police, said.
