Upper-caste students thrash dalit boy in Barmer

Barmer: Amid the tense situation in Rajasthan’s Jalore district after the death of a dalit student, a case of similar nature has come to light in Barmer. A 15-year-old dalit student of Class 10 was allegedly beaten up for entering the programme venue of the ‘upper-caste’ people. On the basis of the complaint, a case has been lodged and investigation has been initiated.

According to the information, victim Dharmaram Meghwal, a resident of Sar Ka Paar Bandra village, in his complaint to the Nagana police mentioned that his four kids are studying in Sar Ka Paar Bandra school. He further stated that his elder son Abhimanyu is studying in class 10th in this school. Victim alleged that on August 6, some upper caste boys assaulted his son. He claimed that he had complained this to the school principal Virchand Meghwal, but he ignored the matter. Victim in his complaint stated that he is a driver and currently out on his job in Mumbai and will appear before the police on arrival.
