Teen girl hangs self after father confiscates mobile, reprimands her for not studying

Ajmer: A tragic incident shook the Civil Lines area of Ajmer on Monday morning when the lifeless body of Bhoomika (15), daughter of Manish Mishra, a resident of Ghughra, was found hanging from a noose inside her home. Bhoomika, a 9th-grade student, reportedly took this extreme step after her father confiscated her mobile phone due to her negligence towards studies.

According to sources, Bhoomika’s elder sister Vishakha was the first to discover her hanging and immediately informed their mother. Family members rushed to the scene, took Bhoomika down from the noose, and rushed her to JLNM Hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

ASI Ranjeet Singh stated that Bhoomika’s father, Manish Mishra, was away in Pushkar for work when the incident occurred. The family and other relatives are being questioned to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide. The police have initiated an investigation into the case to understand the circumstances leading to Bhoomika’s tragic decision. Meanwhile, the body has been preserved at the mortuary awaiting further procedures.
