Rural Olympic games to be held every year: Gehlot

Jodhpur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, on Monday, made an ambitious announcement of organizing urban Olympic Games to create an environment of sports and encourage sports talent in the state while inaugurating Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics-2022. Along with this, he also announced to organize Rural Olympic Games every year, so that the interest towards sports in rural areas remains. The state level inauguration of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics-2022, organized for the first time on National Sports Day as the Maha Kumbh of Games in Rajasthan, CM inaugurated these games on Monday in a grand function organized at the Pashu Mela ground of Pal village. He said that the statewide organization of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics in Rajasthan is unprecedented. “Today is a historic day for Raj,” he said. During this, the torch of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games-2022 was handed over by CM to players.

Gehlot also tried his hand in Kabaddi while inaugurating the Olympics. After the inauguration in Pal village, when Kabaddi match started, Gehlot reached among the players. Congress leaders & others called him to play Kabaddi and he could not refuse. Opportunity to hone sports talent: CM said that our goal of ‘Khelega Rajasthan, Jeetega Rajasthan’ seems to be being fulfilled today. “There is no defeat, no victory here. This unique experiment of Rajasthan will create a history of success and through this the world level sports talents will shine and bring laurels to the state. Our aim is to find rural sports talents and prepare them for regional, national and international level competitions. It will give a new direction to social development and welfare,” he said.
