Rahul Gandhi's 'Samvidhan Sammelan' 'just drama', says Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis
Nagpur: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday slammed Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his "Samvidhan Sammelan" event.
Fadnavis, also the BJP candidate from Nagpur South-West, accused Gandhi of insincerity. Speaking to reporters, the Maharashtra Deputy CM said, "He has no devotion to the Constitution. This is just his drama and nothing else. Nobody is going to vote for him with his drama."
Earlier in the day, Fadnavis held a roadshow in Nagpur as part of his election campaign.
Meanwhile, Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi chaired a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Raebareli. DISHA committee meetings are held quarterly, chaired by the MP. Earlier in the day, Gandhi inaugurated the newly-built Shaheed Chowk and Degree College Chauraha in Raebareli. He also visited and offered prayers at Shri Peepaleshwar Mahadevji Mandir and Hanuman Mandir in the city.
Gandhi, currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Raebareli, is on a one-day visit to the district. During his visit, he will also inaugurate roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Notably, Gandhi won the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections by a significant margin of 390,030 votes.
Later in the day, Gandhi will visit Hyderabad to meet with intellectuals and stakeholders regarding the caste survey initiated by the state government. Providing details about the caste survey, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that it is being conducted for the first time in Telangana. "Rahul Gandhi will reach Hyderabad to hold a meeting with intellectuals, stakeholders on caste survey initiated by the state government...A caste survey is being conducted for the first time in Telangana...Each enumerator has been given 150 houses to survey, and accordingly, decisions will be taken for their benefit," Prabhakar said on Monday.
In October, Prabhakar announced that a detailed caste survey would be conducted in Telangana from November 6 to November 30. "A detailed caste survey is going to be conducted in Telangana between November 6 to November 30. We promised this during elections, and now we are fulfilling it," Prabhakar stated.
The Congress party has consistently demanded a nationwide caste census, calling it a "progressive and significant step."
