Row over statue ends in Bharatpur, pillar seized

Bharatpur: The ongoing controversy over the installation of Bhimrao Ambedkar’s statue at Bailara intersection in Bharatpur’s Nadbai, ended on Thursday. The Divisional Commissioner issued an order to postpone installation for idols in Nadbai. A series of meetings took place with the administration and MLA Joginder Singh Awana. Awana convened a meeting of Nadbai Nagar Palika councillors and people of Jatav community in Circuit House on Thursday. Minister Vihvendra Singh’s son Anirudh also attended a meeting in Bailara.

They demanded registration of cases against those sitting on hunger strike. In view of the seriousness of the district administration in the matter and the incident that happened late on Wednesday, the permission given by the committee was postponed, after which the administration heaved a sigh of relief. District Collector Alok Ranjan during a press conference said that the permission given by the Divisional Commissioner was postponed so that law and order could be maintained.
