Protest ends as grandson allowed to worship at temple

Ajmer: Angry people took to the streets on Friday after a priest committed suicide due to a dispute with the temple committee in Ajmer. The people of the Brahmin community have demanded the arrest of the accused and blocked the road. After 18 hours, the family of the priest agreed for post-mortem. In the evening, a meeting of the Brahmin and Agarwal community was held at the Kotwali police station.

After the talks by police department an agreement was reached that the priest’s grandson, Bharat, would continue to worship in the temple. The last rites of the priest’s body will be conducted today. Besides, the family agreed for Rs 5 lakh compensation. The matter is of Jagdish temple in Rishi Ghati, Ajmer. Govind Narayan (92), a former priest here, immolated himself on October 11.
