Gehlot to face trial as plea dismissed

New Delhi: The court of Additional Sessions Judge MK Nagpal on Wednesday passed a detailed order wherein the Revision petition filed by outgoing CM Ashok Gehlot has been dismissed.

The revision petition was filed against the summoning order passed by Learned ACMM wherein Gehlot was summoned as an accused on the defamation complaint filed by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The outcome of the dismissal of the revision petition is that Gehlot will have to appear physically before the trial court and seek bail by furnishing bail bonds besides facing the trial.

Moreover, with passing of the order, the exemption from personal appearance and furnishing bail bonds also goes away, said Advocate Aditya Vikram Singh.

Shekhawat had filed the defamation complaint against Gehlot for the defamatory statements made by him against Shekhawat and his family members alleging their involvement in the Sanjivani Credit Co-operative Scam.
