CBDT: 11 senior income tax officials promoted

Jaipur: In the final week of the fiscal year, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued two separate orders on Thursday, promoting 4 senior income tax officials to the position of Principal Chief Commissioner and 7 officials to the position of Chief Commissioner.

The promotions, effective from April 1, 2024, include IRS officers Narendra Kumar Balodia, Raj Tandon, Jehanzeb Akhtar, & Prabodh Seth among those appointed to the position of Principal Chief Commissioner. All promoted officials belong to the 1989 batch of IRS officers. Notably, Raj Tandon is currently serving as the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) in the state. Sources suggest that following the retirement of the state’s Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Irina Garg, on March 31, orders for Raj Tandon’s appointment to the position might be issued.

IRS officers Mahesh Kumar, Sanjay Prasad, Sheikh Mohammad Javed Abidi, Shantam Bose, Vismitha Tej, Reema Hota Singh, & Manoj Pal Singh, belonging to the 1990 batch, have been promoted to the position of Chief Commissioner.
