American M-777 gun testing on in Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer: Testing of American M-777 Ultra Light Howitzer Gun is going on at Pokaran Field Firing Range in the border district of Jaisalmer. The 155 mm 39 caliber cannon has a range of 30-40 km.
Officials of the American company BAE Systems and Mahindra DLS, which assembles this gun in India, are present during the testing. The tests will continue for next few days.
According to sources, the special thing about this gun is its lightweight. It can be taken from one place to another through helicopter or by any other means, especially to Leh and Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. The guns can be carried through helicopters in mountainous areas.
