The Launch of Dr Purohit’s Book Rediscovering Mewar

The Jaipur Literary Festival had a distinctive book launch ‘Rediscovering Mewar’ written by Dr Sandeep Purohit . Lakshyaraj Singh of Mewar and his wife Nivrati Kumari along with CP Joshi launched the book. This was preceded by a beautifully anchored dialogue by Swati Vashishtha CP Joshi addressed the question about the religious legacy of Mewar with EklingaJji being its ruling deity while Dr Purohit talked about the historic, well maintained monuments of Mewar, its religious commitment to Srinathji and and Eklinga Ji, and its tangible and intangible heritage . Alongside he turned his journalistic gaze on the neglect of the Tribal of Mewar. Their crops and their land holdings have been neglected in the present time he said. The scenic beauty , the historic bravery of the Mewar clan, its tourist attractions all have been well preserved by the royalty that is very wrapped up in the development of tourism in this sector. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar spiced up the conversation with his sense of humor.

The book is in fact a good admixture of photographs and text and does justice to its natural beauty and historic monuments that reverberate with chivalrous tales. It is one state in Rajasthan that has grown in an organic way in the modern times. Its tribal treasures, their crafts and their crops too deserve to be cared, the writer seems to underline. After the session the audience had a crowded photography session with the royal couple while some academics talked to the writer Dr Purohit. Dr Purohit who has been the editor of Udaipur Patrika, is currently editor of Rajasthan Patrika, Jodhpur zone. His distinctive career and academic record made him work with ease in print, visual as well as digital media.
