Beautiful Bubbly Neetu!

Think Neetu Singh and most of us will think of sweet, cute, natural, sunshine, innocent etc, from day one till now, Neetu is one of the few stars who is really a star on screen and off the screen. If Neetu came across as innocent, easygoing and earnest in her movies, she was and is much the same in real life too. I really liked her for her openness, she was sweetly plump then and totally unaffectedbreezing through her roles with her limpid eyes and shiny hair.

Remember Bachhe man ke sachhe, in Do Kaliyan where Neetu, the child artiste played a double role, one of her best. But I fell in total love with her when I watched Lekar hum deewana dil from the movie Yaadon ki Baraat. She hit the spot with her cute bubbliness and careless sensual moves.

Neetu Singh has the rare ability to bring out the best in her co-stars (male and female) at the risk of being repetitive, in both reel and real life be it Randhir Kapoor with whom she started her adult career or Shashi Kapoor. She shone in the action comedy Maha Chor with Rajesh Khanna as she did in the thriller Chakravyuha. I quite liked her in Chorni with Jeetendra and in the multistarrer Dharma Veer and The Burning Train. She carried her own even with Amitabh in Yaarana, The Great Gambler and Adalat.

But the on-screen romantic chemistry was super with her beau and the love of her life- Rishi Kapoor with whom she did around 12 films. Neetu Singh gave up the screen at 21, an age when actresses start their careers. She came back after 26 years starring opposite Rishi again in Love aaj Kal and Do Dooni chaar, Jab Tak hai Jaan, Besharam and now Jug Jug Jeeyo- showing very clearly that she is still the talented Neetu Singh who can steal the show and carry a movie with her charm and skills. Today, she is a model for women with her svelte figure and truly is an iconic woman who has played any and every role with perfection- both onscreen and off-screen.
